Donald Trump Named Time’s Person of the Year

Sam Jacobs, Time’s editor-in-chief, explained the choice, stating, “On the cusp of his second presidency, all of us — from his most fanatical supporters to his most fervent critics — are living in the Age of Trump.”

A History of Mixed Feelings
Trump’s relationship with Time has been complex over the years. While he has celebrated its recognition, he has also criticized the magazine for what he perceives as unfair treatment. After being named Person of the Year in 2016, Trump objected to the accompanying description of him as the “president of the divided states of America,” stating, “I didn’t divide [the country].
